More than a trim
A cut-down is a short film of its own. Taking the first 30 seconds of a three-minute story rarely works, because the payoff comes later. We pick a single idea from the main film, find the line that opens it best, and end on a moment that feels complete.
Formats
| Shape | Length | Where |
|---|---|---|
| 9:16 vertical | 15 to 60 seconds | Reels, TikTok, Shorts, Stories |
| 1:1 or 4:5 | 15 to 45 seconds | LinkedIn and Facebook feeds |
| 16:9 | 30 to 90 seconds | YouTube, websites, presentations |
Captions and framing
Vertical versions need the speaker reframed shot by shot so faces stay in the middle of the screen. Captions go inside the safe area and match your brand fonts. Each clip ends with your name or a short line pointing back to the full film.
Questions
Can you make cut-downs from a film someone else edited?
Yes. Send the original footage if you can; working from the source gives cleaner reframing than cutting a finished export.
How many clips come from one film?
It depends on the material. A three-minute story with several strong moments often gives four to six good clips.
